Fire is chemistry, not magic. Three legs needed: FUEL (wood, petrol, gas), OXYGEN (air ~21%), HEAT (match, spark, hot wire). Remove any leg — fire dies. Every extinguishing method removes a leg: water steals heat, foam/blanket cuts oxygen, CO₂ displaces air, removing fuel (shut the gas) starves it. Understand the triangle — you understand 90% of firefighting.
- ●Smoldering blanket 20 minutes = silent killer: cigarettes and candles top the causes
- ●Opening the door to a fire = oxygen → flashover. Check through the gap!
- ●Fat fire? Never water! Lid on → it suffocates
🔺 Flashover is the point of no return: at ~600 °C the whole room ignites within seconds. You have 3–5 minutes — your evacuation budget, not a window for belongings.
