112 is THE number: fire, ambulance, severe pain (free, from any phone, even without SIM!). Not life-threatening but need a doctor today? 116117 — the Bereitschaftsdienst: "duty doctor" comes home at night or weekends. 110 is the police. Remember: 112 = "help, I’m dying", 116117 = "I feel bad, but it can’t wait until morning".
