On 21 July 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first human on the Moon — "one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind". Apollo 11 carried three: Armstrong and Aldrin landed, Collins waited in orbit. 12 people have walked on the Moon — none since 1972!
