Working in Germany: jobs that hire English speakers
You can work in Germany without fluent German — if you know where to look:
1. On-base jobs: AAFES, MWR, DoD schools hire Americans constantly. Check their listings plus local classifieds.
2. Gastro and logistics: restaurants, warehouses and delivery companies hire English speakers — especially around Kaiserslautern, Frankfurt and Berlin.
3. Trades: if you are a licensed electrician, HVAC tech or mechanic, German companies pay well and the skilled-worker shortage is real.
4. Freelance/remote: English content, tutoring, IT — register a Gewerbe or stay on US contracts.
5. Reality check: for anything customer-facing you need German. Free integration courses (BAMF) exist — take them early.
Job listings on Kapnula are posted by local companies — including logistics firms and restaurants actively hiring drivers, cooks and service staff. Posting a "looking for work" ad also works: employers browse them.
