Arduino is not a toy but a lift into a profession: Elektroniker für Betriebstechnik / Energie- und Gebäudetechnik — 3.5-year apprenticeship, journeyman ~€2,800–3,500, building-automation specialist (KNX!) ~€4,000–4,800. German companies desperately seek people who program hardware: sensors, buses, protocols — all of which you’ve touched on a breadboard. IoT is growing, and an electrician who can wire AND code is rare and expensive. Portfolio: 3 projects with photos, code on GitHub, schematic — already a conversation starter.
- ●KNX certification — a paid course (~€1,000), behind it are jobs worth €5,000+
- ●The craft subject provides wiring, Arduino the logic — a strong combo
- ●Wokwi simulator + Arduino IDE + a €10 breadboard = a home engineer’s lab
💼 Germany has ~60,000 unfilled electrician positions. Someone with Arduino projects in their portfolio towers over others at interview — they already do what pays.
