Golden hour — the hour after sunrise and before sunset: warm light, long shadows, flattering faces. Blue hour — 20 minutes after sunset: blue sky, cities light up — best for night shots. Noon — harsh top light, shadows under eyes = avoid portraits. The German grey sky is no enemy but a giant softbox: soft diffused light, ideal for portraits and products. Indoors: shoot facing the window, not with your back to it.
- ●PhotoPills/Sun Surveyor shows where the sun stands when
- ●The phone flash is almost always evil: find a window or turn it off
- ●Reflector = white paper/foil — light into shadows for €0
🌅 In Germany the golden hour lasts ~90 minutes in summer and nearly all day in winter — photographers call December light the "eternal sunset".
