The Grundgesetz (GG) is Germany’s constitution since 1949. Three sacred principles: Article 1 — human dignity inviolable (never limitable!). Article 20 — democracy + right of resistance if anyone tries to abolish the order. Federal Republic — power split between Bund and 16 Bundesländer. The GG stands above every law: courts can strike acts violating it.
- ●5 basic rights: opinion, faith, assembly, movement, profession — cannot be taken
- ●Bundestag = elected parliament, Bundesrat = state representation
- ●Federal Constitutional Court Karlsruhe = highest court, guards the GG
📜 Article 1 GG is protected by the eternity clause (Art. 79): no future majority can ever abolish it — not even legally. The answer to 1933.
