Sport the German way: Sportverein and culture

Germany is the land of the Sportverein: ~27 million members in 90,000 clubs. It is not a gym but an "interest club": football, tennis, chess, dancing, even archery — all for ~€10–30 a month. The idea is "Volkssport": sport for everyone, not just pros. Football is religion: Bundesliga, fan culture, the Friday match at the pub.

• ●Sportverein beats the gym: team, coach, price, friends in one package
• ●Kids sections everywhere — Jugendabteilung from age 4
• ●For newcomers: a great way to learn German — play and talk
