The trades are a cult in Germany: ~200 professions, ~1 million firms, ~5.5 million workers. Ausbildung (3–3.5 years): mason, electrician, plumber, painter, joiner, roofer, tiler. Gesellenprüfung → journeyman (~€2,400–3,200), then Meister (~€4,000–5,500) or technician. "Golden soil" — the craft never starves.
- ●Meister requirement: only a Meister may run the firm and train
- ●Training pay: ~€800–1,200/month from the first year
- ●In demand: electrician, plumber, roofer — the shortage trades
👷 The "Meisterbrief" is like a diploma: with it you run the firm, take orders, earn ~€5,000+. Many do better than graduates.
