A computer is a team of specialists: the CPU computes billions of operations per second, RAM is the desk holding open data, SSD/HDD the cabinet storing forever, GPU the painter for images and AI, the motherboard the roads between them. Open a browser — it rides from disk into RAM.
- ●8 bits = 1 byte; 1024 bytes = 1 KB; a gigabyte ≈ a movie
- ●RAM wipes at shutdown — the disk remembers
- ●The phone CPU beats the Apollo 11 computer
⚡ GHz means billions of cycles per second: a laptop CPU does more per second than a human in a lifetime.
