Editing is not "cheating" but developing: RAW/ProRAW stores all sensor light, JPG is already "developed". The sliders: exposure, contrast, highlights/shadows (rescue sky and shadows), white balance (lamp light = yellow!), saturation (careful +10). Free tools: Snapseed (phone), Darktable and GIMP (computer — Lightroom/Photoshop for €0). Order: exposure and white balance first → then crop → then colour. Keep the original separate from the edit.
- ●Blown highlights are dead — dark shadows are easier to rescue
- ●One style per series — otherwise the feed looks like a flea market
- ●Presets are fast, but sliders teach you to see light
🎨 Darktable is a free open-source Lightroom alternative developed in Germany. A pro tool for €0.
