The extinguisher works by PASS: Pull the pin, Aim at the BASE of flames (not into smoke!), Squeeze the handle, Sweep side to side. A 6-kg powder unit lasts 12–20 s: think before pressing. Keep your back to the exit, 2–3 m distance. Note: powder hangs in the air, bad to breathe — ventilate after.
- ●Yearly check: weigh/inspect — gauge in green
- ●Place it at the exit at chest height — you won’t crawl into depth for it
- ●Practice on a trainer: first time at a real fire is bad
🧯 German offices place extinguishers every 20–25 m per DIN 14406. Insurers check their condition after a fire — overdue = payout disputes.
