Genre is a contract with the viewer: comedy promises laughter, mystery — a puzzle, horror — fear, documentary — truth. Know the genre and you pick the right shots and music.

Director trick — mix genres: "adventure with humor" (Indiana Jones), "horror-comedy" (Home Alone). For your first film pick ONE genre.
💡 Exercise: the same scene "person walks down a hallway" in three genres. Comedy — trips. Horror — slow steps, dark. Adventure — runs from a trap!
