Minijob and Midijob: limits and rights

A Minijob is work up to ~€556 a month: you pay no tax or social insurance, but you also earn no pension (voluntary ~3.6% possible). Up to two Minijobs are allowed — together under the cap. The Midijob — €556–2,000 — is the transition zone with reduced contributions. Key point: Minijob ≠ "off the books" — you get holiday, sick pay and dismissal protection like everyone. For students and pensioners the Minijob is classic.

●Bürgergeld + Minijob = up to €100 free, then a share

💶 The Minijob-Zentrale is the official registry: the employer must register you. If they did not — that is a violation, not a "grey contract".
