German has 26 Latin letters + 4 special ones: ä, ö, ü and ß. Almost everything is read as written — easier than English!
Ä
Ä — as in "Mädchen"
Ö
Ö — as in "schön"
Ü
Ü — as in "Tür"

ß — sharp S (Straße)

ch — "ich" / "Buch"

sch — like "Schule" (sh)
💡 ß is a double s. Straße = Strasse (street). In Switzerland they only write ss!
