Creative careers: training in the workshop

📖 Lesson ──▶ 🎯 Quiz — pick the translation ──▶ ✅ Lesson done

Germany is the land of Kunsthandwerk: ~350 recognised creative trades via Ausbildung (3 years workshop plus school). Examples: potter, goldsmith, carpenter, florist, bookbinder, glassblower. Pay after the journeyman exam ~€2,400–3,200, the Meister opens their own workshop. The VHS runs courses for all: ceramics, calligraphy, photography ~€50–150. Art academies: the portfolio beats grades.

●Ausbildung: 3 years, paid (~€900–1,200/month), craftsman shortage
●Art academy: the portfolio decides, the Abitur is secondary
●VHS is the cheap entry: test ceramics for €60 before committing

🎓 Goldsmiths and potters earn ~€3,000–4,000 after Meister — orders wait months because the craft is dying out.
