Germany offers several paths: SOCIAL WORK (Bachelor 3 years, agencies, counseling centers), PSYCHOTHERAPIST (master + license, treats illness, ~€3–4k start), HEILPRAKTIKER FÜR PSYCHOTHERAPIE (state exam without university — fast track to practice, outpatient only), PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELOR (courses 6–24 months, coaching, career advice — legal, but NOT treating illness). The boundary “counseling vs treating” is the main law of the profession.
