Germany is the EU’s largest economy and top payer. EU layers: Council of Europe (all states, not just EU — human rights court), EU (27 states, single market, €), Eurozone (20 states with €), Schengen (no borders). Your rights as an EU citizen: live/work anywhere in EU, free movement, European Court for violations. European elections every 5 years — vote there too.
- ●EU law > national: on conflict EU wins
- ●EHIC card treats EU-wide: don’t get sick abroad without it
- ●European Citizens’ Initiative: 1M signatures = EC must review
🇪🇺 Germany pays ~€25bn/year into the EU budget — and gets access to 450 million people without customs. Investment that pays: exports = half the economy.
