✅ Lesson done
Family support is generous: Kindergeld €255/month per child to 18 (to 25 if studying). Elterngeld pays 65–67% of income, €300–1,800. Kinderzuschlag adds up to €297 for needy families. Unterhaltsvorschuss is the state advance (~€174–254/month) if a parent does not pay. The Familienkasse is the office. Important: apply right after birth — retroactive only 6 months.
- ●Kinderfreibetrag over Kindergeld: the tax allowance pays above ~€75,000 income
- ●Family insurance: children and the non-working spouse are free in the Krankenkasse
- ●Child support follows the Düsseldorf table: amount by age and income
💰 The state spends ~€60bn a year on families. Each child "costs" ~€200,000 to 18 — but the state returns half through payments and allowances.
