✅ Lesson done
In Germany health insurance is mandatory. Two systems: statutory GKV (AOK, TK, Barmer — ~90% of people, ~14.6% of salary split with employer) and private PKV (for high earners and civil servants). Non-earning family members are covered free via Familienversicherung. Students pay ~€130/month. You can switch every 12 months.
- ●The card is the ticket to the doctor: show the Versichertenkarte everywhere
- ●GKV covers ~95%: tests, surgery, hospital, medication (10% co-pay)
- ●Teeth separately: check-ups free, crowns — co-pay
🏥 Above ~€74,000/year you may switch to PKV. But returning to GKV is nearly impossible: a lifetime decision.
