✅ Lesson done
Few pieces left = endgame: every pawn a soldier seeking promotion. Basic mates: king+queen vs king (ladder technique to the edge), king+rook (same slower), two bishops. Square rule: if the enemy king enters the pawn square — it catches up. Lucena and Philidor — rook endgame positions, know by heart. Opposition: kings face to face with a gap — whoever moves loses tempo.
- ●Passed pawn = threat: push to the edge, pieces cover
- ●King in the endgame = fighter: bring him center, he beats knight
- ●Learn 5 basic endgames — covers 80% of games
🏁 Capablanca, world champion 1921–27, said: “learn the endgame before the opening”. Fewer pieces = clearer logic. Endgame logic is the game’s foundation.
