⚖️ What the law says (§ 965 BGB)

Found items over €10 must be reported to the Fundbüro or municipality.
Failing to report a find can be prosecuted as embezzlement (Fundunterschlagung).
After 6 months without the owner claiming it — the find is yours.
Exceptions: items under €10 and finds on public transport → the transport lost property office.
