✅ Lesson done
Stress is the ancient fight-flight-freeze reaction: cortisol and adrenaline prepare muscles, not the brain. Short-term (exam) it helps — eustress. Chronic (months of pressure without recovery) becomes distress: immunity drops, sleep breaks, focus dies. Signs: irritability over trifles, “0 to 100”, constant fatigue, exaggerated startle. The antidote is not “relax” but RECOVERY: sleep, movement, social connection, boundaries.
- ●Box breathing 4-4-4-4 calms the sympathetic in 2 minutes
- ●Movement literally burns cortisol — a walk beats sit-down advice
- ●2+ weeks of “want nothing” is not laziness — it is a signal for the doctor
⚡ In Germany ~1/4 of adults report high stress; health insurers pay for stress management and MBSR courses — ask yours, often free.
